Don’t Miss Meijer Gardens During ArtPrize Seven [Photos]

With 1,550 entries at over 160 venues, it's nearly impossible to see everything at ArtPrize Seven.

One venue that never gets the attention it deserves during ArtPrize is Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park.

Meijer Gardens has once again been acknowledged by the ArtPrize jury. Kunihiro Akinaga's "Mimesis" is on the Jurors' Shortlist for 3-D work. The acknowledgment from the jury is nothing new.

Meijer Gardens had three entries nominated by the jury in the 3-D category in 2014, but the venue doesn't see that same success from the public vote. Geography can be blamed for that. Being separated from the rest of ArtPrize doesn't work in favor of Meijer Gardens, but the venue is definitely worth a visit.

Meijer Gardens holds 25 entries this year. All 25 are made of either porcelain or stoneware. Each is perfectly displayed in its own well-lit case.

There is no charge to view the ArtPrize entries. After coming in the main entrance you'll see a separate line off to the left for visitors who are only there to see the ArtPrize entries. The gallery with the work is then a short walk away.
