According to Grand Rapids Business Journal, Oh, Hello Co. and Gazelle Sports are opening retail locations on Monroe Center in 2022, as is Monsoon Vietnamese Cuisine.

Aroma Labs opened in the same area last year.

Rockford Construction is developing the properties. Mike Mraz, president of real estate development, Rockford Construction tells Grand Rapids Business Journal,

We’re adding the kind of businesses to Monroe Center that people want to visit on their weekends, lunch breaks and after work. With the help of our partners at DGRI (Downtown Grand Rapids Inc.), we’re looking forward to building on this momentum and adding to the all-encompassing downtown experience.

Oh, Hello Co. began as a greeting card company in 2014 and has expanded to sell stationery, planner-related-items, Grand Rapids-themed gifts, and more. According to GRBJ, the new 1,818-square-foot store at 50 Monroe Center NW will be called Courage and Soar and will open in March.

Owner Alex and Kayla Benda tell GRBJ,

It’s going to be truly unique to downtown. We’ll offer modern, upscale home goods at an affordable price point, and we’ll have fine art from local artists on display and available for purchase. We plan to partner with other local businesses and host workshops and scavenger hunts that showcase the beauty of downtown Grand Rapids. We couldn’t be more excited to bring this concept to the city.

Gazelle Sports, which is based in Kalamazoo and has multiple Michigan locations, including Holland and on 28th St. in Grand Rapids, will open a new satellite shop at 52 Monroe Center St. NW.

CEO of Gazelle Sports, Jennifer Brummit, tells GRBJ,

We will offer free weekly runs and walks and have flexible space within our store to host educational clinics, group meetups and events.

Nearby at 55 Monroe Center NW, Monsoon Vietnamese Cuisine is moving in. According to GR Now Chef Phong Nguyen, who operates Phong Da Dude Cooking, is behind the new restaurant.
