Downtown Grand Rapids' Tre Cugini closed its doors on Saturday, December 17 with the retirement of the restaurant's owner Adriano Moscatelli.

Those who were a fan of the upscale Italian restaurant should not fear, however. The space was purchased by Uccello's Hospitality Group on Monday, December 19 and the doors will reopen. It's just uncertain whether or not it will be the same restaurant when that happens.

Restaurateur Faro Uccello told MLive that the acquisition of Tre Cugini is "like a homecoming for my family and I."

There is no word on what will become of the space in the future. The space includes the restaurant itself, as well as the four story atrium, La Scala, that served as a space for banquets and weddings.
