Hi, I’m Steve and I’m a new Dad who has learned a lot of things over the last several months and I want to pass along some knowledge to you!

Each week I will be giving you some new tips for first-time parents and one spectacular Dad joke!  So let's get to the tips!

  1. Today’s first Daddy Tip has to do with your baby’s eating habits.  As your little one starts to grow up, their taste buds will begin to change and develop and with that their tastes will change.  When Charlotte first started eating solid food, she loved loved loved potatoes, but now she barely touches them and instead, now she is obsessed with green beans and carrots.  So be ready to start switching up the menu when your little one’s preferences change. And keep in mind that the more variety you give your baby, the less chance they will get sick of foods.
  2. The next Daddy Tip is another tip about eating habits, but this one might gross you out a bit.  Charlotte had a big first over the weekend and it completely freaked my wife Brittainy out. Charlotte ate her first bug!  Ewwwww! I know that’s gross, but now that the weather is getting a little warmer bugs are coming back and your little one will not hesitate to put them in their mouth.  So my advice to you is to first, try to make sure they don’t eat bugs in the first place, but if they do, don’t freak out, it’s gonna be OK 99% of the time. A bug is just a little bit more protein in their diet.
  3. And the final Daddy tip of the week is how to squeeze out a little bit more free time out of your busy schedule.  We rarely get more than an hour a day of time to just do whatever we want, so we’ve started to try to multitask in free time while we are doing other things.  I like to call it going zen during housework. When I am cooking dinner or cleaning the kitchen, I will binge watch Netflix on my laptop or listen to a podcast on my phone.  Or when Britt is vacuuming or doing laundry she’ll have her headphones in listening to music. Or at the very least just take some of those daily tasks that aren’t that fun and try to just zone out and try to enjoy the monotony or repetition of them.  You’d be surprised at how quick you can take something you don’t like doing and make it relaxing.

And now it’s time for an awesome Dad Joke!

Q: Why can’t bicycles stand up on their own?
A: Because their two tired!
