If Ed Sheeran Showed Up in Grand Rapids, Here’s Where He Should Play
Ed Sheeran has been in the news lately doing the unthinkable for an artist of his size: showing up in random places and having an impromptu concert.
He's appeared at several bars in Nashville out of nowhere, and has hosted 'pop-up pubs' in Massachusetts and, most recently, in his home county of Essex in England. Naming the pub after his latest single Old Phone, it feels like Ed Sheeran really could appear anywhere and start playing a show.
Not saying that Ed Sheeran has any chance of showing up in West Michigan, but these are just the places I feel like may be the most likely options if he were to bless us with a pop up appearance before his next album, Play comes out on September 12th.
What places in Grand Rapids would Ed Sheeran be most likely to do a surprise concert?
I'm not saying I have any insight or inside info here, I just think these places in Grand Rapids fit the bill for places he's shown up recently in other cities.
A Show at the Intersection
Okay hear me out, sure Ed Sheeran more likely has friends who are playing Van Andel over The Intersection.
But, with him showing up with smaller known country artists teasing a new era for his upcoming music, maybe showing up at the place you're most likely to see an up-and-comer playing would make sense.
Rosa Parks Circle
Live music happens here every week, why couldn't a drop-in show from Ed Sheeran be in the center of Grand Rapids' vibrant downtown area?
Broadway Bar
This Grand Rapids bar is known for it's annual Christmas cheer may seem like a strange one to make the list, but one of the places that Ed Sheeran has already popped up was the Santa Pub in Nashville, so why not continue the festive trend?
Social Misfits
It's quirky, it's weird, and it's right in the middle of downtown Grand Rapids. And it's the last place you would expect Ed Sheeran to bust out a guitar, which is why he'd pick it to start.
The Meijer Gardens
While they have a venue place that they hold concerts every summer- that's not what I'm talking about.
I can imagine Ed Sheeran just showing up in the middle of the outdoor walking gardens, busting out a guitar, and giving us a show with a view. Wouldn't it be amazing?
Up Next: Artists that got their start at Grand Rapids' The Intersection
The odds of one of pop's biggest names just randomly showing up in Grand Rapids are low, but that doesn't mean we can't dream, right?
