FaceTime, Being Scary, and Showers – Steve’s Daddy Tips (4-15-20)
Today is the third edition of Steve's Daddy Tips quarantine edition. This week he is focusing on communicating with loved ones, freaking your kid out, and personal hygiene.
- Today’s first Daddy Tip is to get your little one used to FaceTime. In the world of social distancing, visiting with family isn’t something you can do so FaceTime becomes the next best thing. But your average toddler doesn’t have the attention span to really engage in FaceTime. So for Charlotte we’ve started to practice FaceTime with her so when we FaceTime with grandma and grandpa it isn’t just chasing her around or her trying to grab the phone constantly. After several practice FaceTimes, Charlotte is already doing better when we FaceTime for real.
- The second Daddy Tip this week is not scare your toddler just because you are bored. Charlotte has been all about turning off all the lights in the house lately so one night we decided to help her turn off the lights and then hide from her. Well, she got scared and found mommy pretty quickly but Dad kept going with it, slamming doors in the house, shouting, and screaming bloody murder. Turns out that was a bad idea and now she has been saying everything is scary. Who knew that kids got scared easy?
- And the final Daddy Tip of the week Is to teach your toddlers how to shower with you. Now before Fish says anything weird, Charlotte has been learning to shower with her mom. We started doing this because Charlotte was interested in it, but then we quickly found out that showers are way easier and faster than bath time. Plus, she has even started to shampoo her own hair and wash herself with a loofah. She is one fancy toddler and I suggest teaching yours to shower too, it makes things way easier and saves money on your water bill.
And now it’s time for an awesome Dad Joke!
