West Michigan’s own Billy Strings is living proof that hard work, talent, and staying true to your roots can take you all the way to the top. The bluegrass phenom, who was born in Lansing and grew up in the small town of Muir, has officially been announced as part of this year’s Farm Aid 40th Anniversary.

That's where he'll be sharing the stage with musical legends like Neil Young, Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp, and Dave Matthews.

Not bad for a kid who used to jam in Michigan living rooms and dive bars.

Before Billy heads to Farm Aid this September, he’ll be pulling off something just as jaw-dropping: two sold-out shows at Van Andel Arena right here in Grand Rapids on May 30th & 31st.

That’s thousands of fans, packed into a venue just down the road from where his journey began. It’s a full-circle moment that’s as West Michigan as it gets.
