Football, Shorter Days, and Caterpillars – Steve’s Daddy Tips (8-28-19)
Hi, I’m Steve and I’m a new Dad who has learned a lot of things over the last several months and I want to pass along some knowledge to you!
Each week I will be giving you some new tips for first-time parents and one spectacular Dad joke! So let's get to the tips!
- Today’s first Daddy Tip is to make sure your toddler is all ready for the football season! What does that mean? It means you gotta get them a bunch of clothes from your favorite teams! So far, Charlotte has a couple of Michigan State jerseys and shirts, so I got Saturday’s covered. But, I still need to pick up some Lions gear so we can watch them fail spectacularly together on Sunday!
- The next Daddy Tip is to start thinking about earlier bedtime for your little one now that fall is fast approaching. The days are starting to get shorter and we are using that to our advantage! During the summer, Charlotte was staying up until 9:30 or 10 most nights and it was killing us! But, we didn’t blame her, because it was still light out at that point anyway. But now that the sun sets before 8:30 and all the light is gone by 9, the girl is actually asleep by then most nights now. So, definitely try and use the shorter days to your advantage and get your little one on that new fall schedule ASAP!
- And the final Daddy Tip is an easy one. Don’t give your kids under 2 caterpillars, it won’t end well for the caterpillar. Charlotte saw a caterpillar at the park the other day so I decided to grab it and show it to her. Well, after a couple of touches, I put it in her hand, and then splat. She instantly squeezed it and all of a sudden the caterpillar was smushed and dead. Sorry little buddy, I didn’t realize that Charlotte was impersonating Lenny from Of Mice and Men.
And now it’s time for an awesome Dad Joke!
Now is the perfect time to invest in Ireland! I hear their capital is Dublin!
