Former Grand Rapids Church Gets City’s OK To Become Apartments
Developers got the green light on Wednesday to start the process of turning Saint James Lutheran Church, located at 445 Knapp Street NE into apartments according to WOODTV.
The City Council gave approval of the 2.6 million dollar project that will turn the 76-year-old church into 5 three-story apartments. They will then build 9 more units in a building, they plan to put up in the parking lot next to the church, WOODTV reports.
Are they going to be affordable? Is anything really affordable IN Grand Rapids? The WOODTV story says the developer told them rent will range from $1,200 for a one bedroom on up to $1,500 a month if you want a two bedroom apartment.
No word on when the project is planned for completion. 111 Halo LLC is the developer of the project.
