As someone who logs into Fortnite more than I care to admit (and definitely spends more money than I should on new skins and emotes) , it had never crossed my mind that the game might be quietly charging me without me noticing.

But apparently, that’s exactly what happened to a whole lot of us. And now? You might be entitled to a refund.

Why are Michigan Parents / Gamers Able to Get Money Back From Fortnite?

The Federal Trade Commission has extended the deadline for people to file claims in a class action settlement with Fortnite’s developer, Epic Games. If you (or your kid) have played Fortnite and were ever charged for something you didn’t want, or if your child racked up charges without your permission, this could be your chance of getting some of that cash back.

The FTC accused Epic Games of using what it called “dark patterns” to trick players into making unwanted purchases. They also claimed Epic made it too easy for kids to charge their parents’ accounts and even locked players out of content they’d paid for if they dared to dispute a charge.

Epic denies doing anything wrong, but they’ve agreed to pay $245 million as part of the settlement.

The best part? The claims process is easy, and the deadline has been extended to July 9, 2025. So if you’re a Michigan parent or gamer who’s ever scratched your head at a surprise V-Bucks receipt, head to this website and see if you’re eligible.
