Grand Rapids’ Founders Brewing Adds a Non-Alcoholic Beer to the Lineup
Whether you committed to Dry January, are trying to cut back a little, or just don’t feel like ending a Tuesday night buzzed for no reason, non-alcoholic beer has started to feel less like a backup plan and more like a real option. Because let’s me honest, sometimes you want a really good beer, just not the alcohol part.
That’s where Grand Rapids own Founders Brewing Co. is paying close attention.
The local brewery has rolled out a new non-alcoholic beer called Nonetheless. It clocks in at under 0.5 percent ABV and is meant to drink like an actual beer, without the hangover or buzz that comes along with enjoying a brew.
Founders describes Nonetheless as a light, easy-drinking golden beer with a hint of citrus. It has smooth, bready malt, citrusy hops, a touch of sweetness, and a crisp finish. In other words, it still tastes like something you would want to drink while sitting with friends or hanging out at home. The only thing missing is the alcohol.
For some people, this lands right at the end of Dry January, when you are ready for something that feels normal again but maybe do not want to jump straight back into heavier beers. For others, it lines up with the reality that younger drinkers are choosing alcohol less often, or at least choosing it more intentionally.
