Four Detroit Tigers Selected To All-Star Team

A last minute push in voting by Detroit Tigers' fans has earned Alex Avila the start at catcher at Major League Baseball's All-Star Game.

Avila will be joined by 3 teammates:  Justin Verlander, Jose Valverde, and Miguel Cabrera.  All three will start the game on the bench.  Verlander is scheduled to pitch for the Tigers two days before the All-Star Game and will not be available to pitch.

There could be another Tiger on the way to the All-Star Game.  Catcher Victor Martinez has been selected as 1 of 5 possible American League players to be added to the All-Star Team via fan vote.  Voting ends at 4:00pm on Thursday.  MLB's All-Star Game is on July 12 in Phoenix.
