Hi, I’m Steve and I’m a new Dad who has learned a lot of things over the last several months and I want to pass along some knowledge to you!

Each week I will be giving you some new tips for first-time parents and one spectacular Dad joke!  So let's get to the tips!

  1. Today’s first Daddy Tip is a great family activity you can do with your toddler! Hide and seek! My wife, Britt came up with the idea on a rainy day last week and Charlotte absolutely loved it. But if you play with your family, be forewarned that some people take this game very seriously. Britt is one of those people. She hid so well the last time we played that Charlotte was scared she was actually lost and started crying when we couldn’t find her. So my tip is to just don’t hide so well that it’s scary for your little one.
  2. The next Daddy Tip is more of a Daddy bragging moment, but there is also a small tip attached too. Charlotte used the potty for the first time on her own. Go Charlotte! Unh! Go Charlotte! Yeah, she’s not even 2 and she used the potty. I’m not sure if that’s good but it made Daddy and Mommy proud! And that leads me to the tip. Make a huge deal out of them using the potty so they feel really good about themselves and want to do it more often.
  3. And the final Daddy Tip is for all of you socially awkward Dads like myself. Be armed with small talk when you take your kiddo to the park or you might say weird things to other parents as I did over the weekend. Charlotte was playing with another kid for like an hour and me and his mom ran out of things to talk about, so it was a lot of awkward silence. Well, that’s when we saw a hawk and the kids pointed and said “bird”. So to break the silence I told the story about how I watched a hawk eat a squirrel alive in my backyard. Yeah ... that's not good small talk. So be ready with normal person conversation material like maybe a funny thing you heard on Connie and Fish the other day and don’t tell a horror story of a bird eating a rodent.

And now it’s time for a spooky Halloween Dad joke!

Q: What is the perfect pasta to eat on Halloween?
A: Fettuccine Afraid-o!
