As a GenY-er myself (at least I think I am), I'm not so sure that that is a true statement. I see many of my peers out an about spending money on things that absolutely are not necessary and then struggling to pay their bills. But, maybe they are in the minority.

According to this article in the Yahoo! Finance section 20-somethings are taking longer to reach "traditional adulthood milestones" such as finishing school, settling into a job, getting married and having children.

In the article, it is explained that the reason that we are so frugal is that we have seen what a tough economy is like and are, inherently sometimes, afraid of debt.
