Golf and Michigan’s favorite cold-weather comfort food might not seem like a natural pair, but this weekend, they’re teaming up for a good cause.

Gimme’s Par and Grill in downtown Grand Rapids is trading tee times for taste tests as it hosts its annual Chili Cook-Off in support of the Van Andel Institute.

From noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, the “boldest bowls in the city” will go head-to-head to see whose chili reigns supreme. The air will be filled with that unmistakable mix of spices, simmering beef, and community spirit as guests sample their way through a lineup of local contenders, each bringing their own twist to the classic dish.

Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door and include entry to the event, a sample of every chili, two voting tokens, access to a heated tent, and live music to keep things lively between bites.

Kids 10 and under can join the fun for free, making this a great way to spend a fall afternoon with the family.

It’s not every day you find chili and chip shots in the same sentence, but Gimme’s is proving that a golf-themed bar can deliver plenty of heart alongside its hearty bowls.

Between the friendly competition, the cozy fall flavors, and the chance to support an incredible local cause, this is one downtown event worth showing up hungry for, even if you shoot below par.
