This multi-story parking deck is designed to serve both amphitheater event attendees and community members on non-event days.

The 12,000-seat Acrisure Amphitheater is set to open in 2026 as part of a larger downtown revitalization effort.

The project already includes 350 vehicle spaces, with an additional 112 spaces in a nearby surface lot.

A mixed-use residential tower near the amphitheater will add 450 spaces for apartment residents.

The new parking structure aims to address concerns about increased traffic and parking needs in the downtown area.

The bonds for this project will be repaid by the Grand Rapids-Kent County Convention/Arena Authority, not taxpayers.

This parking ramp is part of a broader development plan that includes:

  • An 8,500-seat professional soccer stadium
  • An aquarium
  • Two mixed-use towers with hundreds of apartment units

The total cost for all aspects of this revitalization project is estimated at about $715 million.

While some residents have expressed concerns about the cost and necessity of the parking structure, city officials and Grand Action 2.0 (the group behind the amphitheater project) believe it's essential for the venue's success and the overall growth of downtown Grand Rapids.

The city will now prepare an agreement with the convention area authority and present it to the committee within a few weeks.
