Grand Rapids Restaurant Adds Some Spice To Your Favorite Fast Food Meals
As Americans, we love fast food.
However, if I can be honest with you, the same old fast food gets boring.
This takeout-only restaurant is adding some pizzazz to the fast food that we know and love.
Open at the former place of Rinaldi's Pizza and Sub Shop, Black Napkin is the second business endeavor by Korine Hollinshead and Jason Richardson, who own the popsicle business, "Any Colour You Like."
When you visit Black Napkin, you can get your dose of smash burgers and sandwiches but with some spice added.
"Menu-wise, he wanted to something with a nice simple template that we could do a lot of different variations on. Keeping it simple and smooth back there because we wanted to do fast food style but with like really nice ingredients, really nice food. Which is kind of how we started with popiscles. It is a really simple 3 ounces on a stick, fruit or whatever. And then we can play with flavors within that."
One of the upgrades to the average fast food smash burger is called 'Le College Dropout.' Named after the iconic album by Kanye West, according to their Instagram page, it is one that quickly sells out. It is made with
"Double Michigan craft beef smashed patties, Grand Cru cheese, smashed vidalia onion, arugula, peppercorn tomato jam, herb de Provence mayo on a Nantucket Baking Company's sesame seed challah bun."
If that did not make your stomach growl, I do not know what to tell you.
Black Napkin is open every Wednesday through Satufrday from 11:30 AM to 8:00 PM. For the full menu, you can check out their website.
