Gun Threat at Muskegon Airport Thought to be Another Swatting Case
Muskegon County Sheriff's investigators believe that a non-credible threat called into the Muskegon County Airport was another case of swatting in West Michigan.
Just before 3 p.m. Tuesday, an unidentified person called the airport and claimed that he was in the parking lot armed with an AK-47, and was coming inside to shoot people.
The airport, along with nearby Muskegon Christian Schools and several businesses, were immediately placed on lockdown as a precaution,
Officers responded to the airport and searched the grounds, but no armed person was found. Authorities told WZZM-13 that they believe the threat was a hoax, and that it could be related to a string of recent threats at local schools.
The lockdown of the airport, school, and surrounding businesses was lifted around 4 p.m.
