GVSU and MSU GR Campus Closed Monday + GRPS Update
GRAND VALLEY
All campuses of GVSU will be closed Monday, January 6 due to extreme weather. Only essential employees should report. If you are a student or have a student at GVSU, the Fresh Food Company and Kleiner Commons are open Sunday and Monday to serve food. More GVSU info is HERE.
MICHIGAN STATE
MSU is also suspending classes for Monday, January 6th for students in East Lansing AND their medical campus in Grand Rapids. Students in a clerkship should check their clinical site for responsibilities in the hospital or clinic. Campus events, in-person services and all university buildings will be closed to the public. The Veterinary Hospital will continue emergency services but routine appointments will be rescheduled. More MSU info is HERE.
GRAND RAPIDS PUBLIC
At GRPS, Superintendent Weatherall Neal and her team are monitoring the weather conditions. The guidelines for closure are sustained wind chills of 30 below, Superintendent Weatherall Neal indicated that sustained wind chills of 15 below or more and road conditions will be factors for any decision to close schools. They are hoping to make a decision before 11pm tonight, otherwise a decision will be made no later than 5:30am Monday. GRPS will communicate any decision to close using social media, automated calls, GRAIL/news outlets, the district website, e-news and their main line 819-2000.
