With Halloween falling smack-dab in the middle of the week this year, many people were left feeling a tad sluggish heading back to work after the sugar-infused holiday.

That said, we do have some ideas that might have you feeling better than ever again— and yes, they involve all that candy staring at you in your cupboard.

Halloween candy…meet our friend, wine.

Indeed, as noted on the website Vivino, wine paired with Halloween candy can actually make for some darn good combinations. But take it from us, these pairings aren’t for amateurs. Instead, you really need to know what you are doing.

Here are some of our favorite pairings, and yes, we will be testing all of these in the days ahead. (Not crazy about these? Head on over to Vivino for more pairings that include everything from Swedish fish to Hershey’s kisses and Kit Kats.)

Pink Starburst and Moscato d’Asti

The world got you down? Don’t despair. This combination will get a smile on your face in no time. Pick up a bottle of the fruity, bubbly favorite Moscato and pair it with that bag of Starburst that your kids will never notice you swiped. Keep in mind, however, this won’t work with just any of the fruit-chew flavors – you will want to stick with the pink ones for this concoction.

Reese’s PB Cups and Gamay

Let’s just face it – some of you (okay, a lot of you) are going to binge on Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups whether you have wine in the kitchen or not. No judgement on our end, but as long as you're at it, you might as well make that binge even more fun. Try pairing it with a glass of Gamay—a light-bodied red that's similar to Pinot Noir. Let’s just say this is going to taste like a (grown-up) peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

Whoppers and Cabernet Sauvignon

Chances are good that you have some Cab hanging around from the last time your aunt came over for Thanksgiving. Why not put it to good use by pairing it up with some malt-filled Whoppers! Heck, don’t even partake in it separately – throw those bite-size balls right in your drink to mix with the dessert wine. Yes, really!
