Heatwave Tips – Steve’s Daddy Tips (7-17-19)

Hi, I’m Steve and I’m a new Dad who has learned a lot of things over the last several months and I want to pass along some knowledge to you!

Each week I will be giving you some new tips for first-time parents and one spectacular Dad joke!  So let's get to the tips!

1. Today’s first two Daddy Tips are a couple of suggestions on how you can deal with this heatwave we are getting. First, you need to get yourself a kiddie pool. You can get them for under 20 bucks and they are amazing at cooling you and your little one off. Just be sure that you have those special diapers for swimming because you don’t want to be fishing dookies out of the pool. Thank goodness we haven’t had to do that yet.
2. The next Daddy Tip is a little bit of advice for when you are taking your little one to cool off at the splash pad. We took Charlotte to the splash pad last weekend and she had a great time, that is until it started to get busy. Once there were kids running everywhere, Charlotte was getting bumped into and knocked over every couple of minutes. She even got straight up body-slammed by a kid on accident and skinned her knee. Awww, poor girl. So if you’re little one is still really small, try to go during less busy times so they can enjoy running around more.
3. And the final Daddy Tip is a serious one about the heat. Try not to be out for long periods of time with your little one when temperatures are above 90. And when you are outside, be sure they are well hydrated and have sunscreen on! This weather is no joke and can be dangerous to you and your little one.
