Cheaper Gas This Christmas: Hit the Road for the Holidays in Michigan
I have traveled over 15,000 miles this year in my truck, which means I’ve spent a ton of time at the pump. Even if you don’t drive as much as I do, you likely know we've been slammed with crazy gas prices all year long. Every time I needed to fill up the tank, it felt like I was handing over my entire paycheck. But guess what? It looks like we might actually catch a break this holiday season.
Thank goodness, because I don't know about you, but I'm ready to get out of town and see some family (and lights) this Christmas. The experts at GasBuddy are saying we're looking at around $3 a gallon, I might actually be able to afford it!
Sure, there will probably be those days when I pull up to the pump and it's jumped back up to $3.09 or even $3.19, but hey, at least it's not pushing $4 anymore, right? And with prices dipping as low as $2.80 sometimes, I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for those sweet deals.
Here's how I'm planning to stretch my gas money even further:
Tire pressure check: First things first, I'm making sure my tires are properly inflated. Every little bit helps!
Packing light: I'm only taking the essentials this year. No need to haul around extra junk and waste gas.
Chill out on the gas pedal: I'll admit, I can be a bit of a lead foot. But this trip, I'm all about smooth driving to save some fuel.
Navigation app is my best friend: No more getting lost or stuck in traffic jams. I'm mapping out my route in advance to make sure I'm taking the most efficient way.
Okay, I'm a little nervous about what might happen to gas prices in 2025 with those talks of potential tariffs on Canadian oil. But honestly, I'm just going to enjoy this holiday season and these (relatively) affordable gas prices while they last.
