Hope Network Closes Centers for Recovery: Where Does Michigan Go For Help Now?

Addiction is a topic that we as a society try to avoid talking about. It's hard, it can be ugly, and we don't have a perfect solution to help our friends, family and loved ones with their struggle with substance abuse of all kinds.

The hope network announced this week that they would be closing in May. In a letter sent out to current patients, they said "It was not an easy decision to make... We will be available until May 20, 2022 for final appointments and urgent needs but urge you to schedule as early as possible."

And it may seem like hope may be lost for people in Michigan who are seeking help for their struggle, but thankfully we have other resources for those looking to seek help.

Sanford Behavioral Health

The Sanford House Grand Rapids offers services ranging from addiction to eating disorders, and mental health conditions. They also offer Detox; Residential Treatment; Day Programs (PHP); Intensive Outpatient Care, and more. They have two locations in Grand Rapids to help serve the community better. The Salvation Army Rehabilitation Center

The mission of the Salvation Army Rehabilitation Center is to "provide spiritual, social and emotional assistance for men and women who have lost the ability to cope with their problems and provide for themselves." They offer residential housing, work, and group and individual therapy, all in a clean, wholesome environment. The physical and spiritual care that program participants receive prepares them to re-enter society and return to gainful employment.

Recovery Road Homes

This Grand Rapids non-profit helps people with their transition from recovery to everyday life. They have a "group of Sober Living Houses with five male houses & four female houses; offering a supportive environment that allows new beginnings for both men and women."

And According to a two year DePaul University study, published August 2005, led by Leonard A. Jason, PhD, Center for Community Research, individuals living in sober homes have a 65-87% recovery rate without relapse compared to 31% of individuals who went back to their community. NuPoint Services

Nupoint's mission statement says they are a "wellness-conscious behavioral health treatment center. We use evidence-based curriculum to help people define the meaning of wellness as it pertains to behavioral health, explains the eight dimensions of wellness, and provides tips for self-improvement in each dimension." Their unique science based approach helps find and heal the root of addiciton, which tends to help with long term recovery moreso than just quitting cold turkey.
