West Michigan finally got enough snow to count as a real snowfall, and while most of us spent the weekend digging out our cars and wondering why we live here, one very small West Michigan celebrity celebrated a major life milestone: his first-ever snow day.

Hugo, the baby pygmy hippo at John Ball Zoo who was born earlier this year, didn’t get to romp around in the snow (he’s a warm-weather guy at heart), but the zoo’s animal care team made sure he still got to enjoy the magic in the most adorable way possible.

In a video posted to the zoo’s social media accounts on Wednesday December 3rd, Hugo is shown hanging out inside his warm indoor enclosure, munching on some of his favorite snacks (apples, lettuce, carrots)

And right next to him? A tiny snowman made entirely in his likeness, complete with an adorable carrot nose.

It’s honestly so cute it might give you cavities.

“Hugo met his frosty twin this past weekend,” the zoo wrote in the caption. “Made by our animal care team and packed with yummy veggies, this tiny snowman was love at first bite.”

And yes, he absolutely took a bite.

Since John Ball Zoo is closed for the season and won’t reopen until spring, this little winter moment is the closest any of us will get to seeing how Hugo is handling Michigan’s first real blast of cold. You can check in on him anytime with their Hugo Cam.

Judging by the video, he seems perfectly happy staying indoors, snacking away. Honestly? Same, Hugo.
