Inaugural 616 Day Event Coming To Studio Park in Grand Rapids
June 16th has become the 'unofficial' celebration of everything West Michigan, and specifically Grand Rapids, as a nod to the area code 616 for the city and much of the metro area. This year the Grand Rapids Hip Hop Coalition and Grand Stand Pictures are throwing a party to celebrate Grand Rapids on 616 Day.
The event, at Studio Park in downtown Grand Rapids, is the official kick-off for crowdfunding for the new film, A City Within A City: the Black Freedom Struggle in Grand Rapids. Proceeds from ticket sales will be used to start community funding for the project, based on historian Todd E. Robinson's dissertation of the same name.
Activities included are described on the event page:
Re-open the City!
- Scavenger Hunt
- popcorn, snacks and beverages
- game show games - 616 Trivia
