$1 Million Powerball Ticket Sold At Family Fare in Michigan

While no one claimed the top prize in Saturday night’s Powerball drawing, one lucky Michigan resident still walked away with a life-changing $1 million win. The winning ticket, purchased at a Family Fare in Traverse City, matched all five numbers except for the Powerball, securing the substantial prize.

The winning numbers for Saturday, August 19, were 5, 15, 21, 24, and 43, with a Powerball of 17. Although the $35 million jackpot went unclaimed, the excitement isn’t over yet. The next Powerball drawing is set for Monday at 11 p.m., with the jackpot now sitting at $44 million.

Michigan wasn’t the only state with a $1 million winner. Another ticket with the same winning combination, minus the Powerball, was sold in Washington state. These lucky winners are now among a rare group who beat the long odds of the Powerball.

In addition to the big win in Traverse City, around 7,500 other Michigan tickets matched just the Powerball number, earning their holders a modest $4 prize. One more Michigan ticket nearly hit the jackpot, matching all but one of the numbers plus the Powerball, for a $50,000 win.

With odds of winning the Powerball jackpot at 1 in 292.2 million, it’s always a long shot, but this recent win shows that even matching most of the numbers can lead to a substantial prize.
