It's a day we'd like to forget, but an anniversary that must be remembered.

West Michigan remembers the attacks of 9/11/01 today with prayer services, flag memorials, candlelight vigils, stair climbs, and more.

The Grand Rapids Stair Climb took place at the Amway Grand this morning, the display of 3,200 U.S. flags at the West Michigan Healing Field continues through the beginning of this week, and an interfaith prayer service begins at 2:00 at Cathedral Square in Grand Rapids.

Here's a list of activities surrounding the prayer service:

  • 1:30 p.m. Gathering at the Cathedral of Saint Andrew
  • 2:00 p.m. Interfaith service, Cathedral Square
  • 3:00 p.m. Blessing of the vehicles and start of walk
  • 4:00 p.m. Heroes Honor Program, Gerald R. Ford Museum
  • 8:00 p.m. Sunset Salute candlelight vigil, Gerald R. Ford Museum
