Ionia Free Fair Cancelled Due To Weather

The storms we have been having are causing a lot of trouble.  Up to 5 inches of rain on Wednesday.  Thousands lost power.  Now the Ionia Free Fair has been cancelled.

Here's the official announcement from the Ionia Free Fair:

Due to severe weather and based on forecasts from the National Weather Service, the Ionia Free Fair Board of Directors has made the decision to cancel the remainder of the 2011 fair schedule.  Grand River levels and extremely heavy rain have forced the closing of all on-site parking lots, and have made it impossible to conduct fair activities.  The forecast of additional rain (possibly heavy) could worsen the situation, and the possibility of additional flooding.
