Let's just say this, we could do better and we could do way worse!

Imagine The Walking Dead scenario really happened, a mystery virus turns the dead into walking cannibals. The government loses control, panic reaches across the country and anarchy takes over, city to city. Would GR be okay?

CareerBuilder put together some numbers that give us an idea of how we, in West Michigan, would do. The study grabbed the 53 largest metro areas in the United States and ranked them on how well equipped they would be to handle such a situation.

Areas were scored on eight different factors in four categories. (1) Ability to defend against the virus, (2) ability to contain the virus, (3) ability to find a cure, and (4) ability to outlast the epidemic with enough food.

The good news? Grand Rapids ranked 12th! We were first with food, 42 with cure, 53 with defense (that's last) and 18 with containment.

You know what they didn't count on though? They didn't count on the fact that we're so close to Northern Michigan. That means our defense rank would shoot up (get it?) at least to the top 10!
