‘Fine Dive Bar’, Detroit Style Pizza Restaurant Opens Downtown Grand Rapids

Last month we told you what would be replacing Wahlburgers at 10 Ionia Ave. - and the new restaurant is now open!

The Foolery is described as a "a fine-dive bar that serves up a scratch-made Detroit-style, square pan pizza, featuring an inventive twist on the food, nostalgic craft cocktails and cold beer."

The owner, Spencer Raymond, also owns Social Misfits, which is also at the Residence Inn by Marriott downtown Grand Rapids, according to Wood TV 8.

Raymond said in a release,

The Foolery harbors a beautiful tension between fine and dive bar. The upscale upholstered furniture, spacious seating, and luxury comfort add a layer of class to this restaurant. The tasteful color palettes, purposeful lighting, and sound system tell a story that we have attention to detail.

The new restaurant "oozes nostalgia and screams randomness and oddities that resemble a treasure trove of things from the past that evoke emotion" and will "bring a touch of the motor city to the West Side".

On the menu you'll find shareables like Roasted Cauliflower, Hot Honey Roasted Carrots, and Smoked Whitefish Dip. There's also Pasties and Flat Top Table Bread with Dips.

Salads include a Classic Cob, Caesar, Roasted Fennel, and Antipasto Panzanella.

You'll find a variety of Detroit Style Pizzas like:

• MCDC - Chicken, Bacon, Green onion, Buffalo sauce, Gorgonzola, Mozzarella
• Electric Forest - Oyster mushroom, Conserva, Garlic Confit, Truffle Oil, Mozzarella

Drinks include beer, wine, and cocktails like:

• Tom's Mischief - Scoop of Aperol Ice Cream, Aperol, Brut, Olive Oil, Pinch of Salt, Grated Orange
• Pookie's Favorite - Tequila, Seedlip Garden, Pineapple Gum, Lime Juice, Absinthe
