Texas Transplants to Open New BBQ Joint in West Michigan This Week

A new restaurant serving up smoked brisket, ribs, chicken, pork and more is opening up in West Michigan this week!

The name is a mouthful and it sounds like you get a mouthful of deliciousness at Somebody Slap Me That's Good BBQ.

The new BBQ joint is coming to 128 S. Jefferson in Hastings, Mich.

Brian and Angel McGraw, who have worked in the food industry most of their lives, are the folks behind Somebody Slap Me That's Good BBQ.

Passionate at BBQ, Brian first began making sauces and rubs just for himself. Then he started getting requests from friends and family wanting to buy it - and now here they are!

From their Facebook page it looks like they've been serving food at events and doing catering, and now they're set to open a brick-and-mortar restaurant.

Brian says,

My passion is BBQ and everything that goes with it. I love to smoke meats or just about anything you can cook on a smoker and experiment with new rubs, seasonings, and sauces.

The couple moved from their home in Texas to Hastings in fall of 2023.

Somebody Slap Me That's Good BBQ's Grand Opening is Friday Dec. 8, 2023, 5p.m. to 10p.m.

For appetizers you'll find Meaty Cheese Fries and Smoked Steak and Smoked chicken bombs. The "bombs" are jalapeños stuffed with meat and cream cheese and then wrapped in bacon.

BBQ plates include Slow Smoked Brisket, Spare Ribs, Pork Butt, Sausage, Chicken Leg Quarters, and Chicken Wings.

You can can also get Brisket, Pulled Pork, or Smoked Chicken Sandwiches.

Sides include Corn on the Cob, Tater Tots, Potato Salad, Apple Pie Baked Beans, and more.
