Michigan's SkyBridge Is an Incredible Pure Michigan Adventure

If you're looking for something uniquely Pure Michigan to do, I can officially recommend the SkyBridge. But, I hope you're not afraid of heights, because you're going to be up pretty high...

What is the SkyBridge?

The SkyBridge is a timber-tower suspension bridge located in Northern Michigan's Boyne Mountain Resort that is open for those brave enough to walk across it. In fact, it's so big that it's officially been dubbed 'Michigan's second bridge', second only to the Mackinac Bridge.

If you're not afraid of heights—or bridges that sway slightly as you walk across them—the SkyBridge is so worth the trip. You might think, 'what's so cool about a bridge?' but you really have to experience it for yourself. It really feels like you're on top of the world. And if you are one of those brave enough to cross, you're in for some breathtakingly spectacular views.

Why You Have to Be Brave to Cross the SkyBridge

As far as being brave, you have to take a chairlift to the top of the mountain. And keep in mind that the bridge is 120 feet up, so that you're walking among the treetops. Oh, and did I mention the bridge sways and has a glass floor in the middle of it?

I made my very first visit to the SkyBridge this summer, but the views during the fall as said to be absolutely stunning. If you're looking for a place to do some leaf peeping, and you're not too afraid of heights, you should make your way to Boyne this summer.

Michigan-based Ivan Iler was commissioned by the City of Lansing to build Portrait of a Dreamer. Portrait of a Dreamer is 15-foot-tall, stainless steel, interactive statue on Michigan Avenue in Lansing, Michigan. There's a crank in the front of the statue that allows you to turn the gears in its head and the ones spilling out.

An Inside Look at The Henry Ford Museum in Southeast Michigan

The Henry Ford Museum, situated in Dearborn, Michigan, is home to many permanent and temporary exhibits. It's a great opportunity to learn about Michigan history, how it played a role in the Nation's history, and even a chance to get hands-on with the new, temporary NASA and space exhibit, Apollo: When We Went to the Moon.
