If you’re a fan of Parks and Recreation, you know Jerry Gergich (or Larry, or Gary… depending on the season) was the lovable butt of every joke.

But the man behind the character, Jim O’Heir, is anything but the office punching bag. In fact, he’s heading to Grand Rapids to prove it.

O’Heir, who has kept busy in Hollywood since leaving Pawnee, is taking a break from the screen for an intimate, laugh-filled evening right here in our city. Don’t expect this to be a meet and greet or a stand-up set.

This is a full-on conversation with comedian and Local Grins author Virginia Anzengruber, who already has a history of getting the best stories out of him. (She hosted him back in 2016 for Super Hungry the Podcast LIVE! at Florida State University, which completely sold out.)

Expect plenty of behind-the-scenes laughs from his days in Chicago comedy clubs to the moment he landed on one of TV’s most beloved sitcoms. (And, yes, Virginia may or may not take credit for teaching him how to use social media.)

Afterward, things won’t be winding down. instead, the night will wrap with a special improv performance featuring some of Grand Rapids’ own comedy talent, with O’Heir himself stepping in as the guest monologist.

All of this is happening at the Wealthy Theatre on October 1st. Tickets are already on sale, and if history repeats itself, they won’t last long.

Whether you loved him as Jerry or just want to laugh until your sides hurt, this is one Pawnee-inspired night you won’t want to miss.
