An ambulance in Kent County was involved in a rollover accident late Monday night. It happened near the intersection of Lincoln Lake and 14 mile in Oakfield Township. The accident occurred around 10pm.

To avoid being hit head on, the Kent County ambulance had to swerve into a ditch, states FOX 17. Montcalm County Emergency Services says a vehicle was having a difficult time navigating a curve and crossed the center line.

While trying to avoid a crash, the ambulance adjusted course but the SUV reportedly struck the ambulance right behind the driver's door causing it to rollover.

A 39-year-old Greenville woman had to be extracted from the 2018 Ford Explorer according to Michigan State Police. The woman suffered serious injuries. The ambulance driver, patient in the ambulance and medical staff helping the patient were treated for minor injuries at the hospital. Drugs, alcohol and speed are considered factors in the crash. The incident is currently under investigation.

The road is back open, however, 14 Mile Road was closed between Lincoln Lake and Old 14 Mile roads while crews cleaned up.
