The kitchen is my favorite room in the house. I do 99 percent of the cooking, and it's kind of a hobby of mine. If you spend much time in the kitchen, you know the right tools make all the difference — and they can get pricey.

I've found that Goodwill Industries of Greater Grand Rapids has an extensive selection of both new and gently used cooking supplies, so I thought I'd show off some of the things I found on a recent shopping trip.

I love to prep for the next day, so the to-go yogurt cup is the perfect size. I also grabbed some flour/sugar containers because I don't have any. I just use the paper bags they come in like some sort of peasant. ;)

This steam tray is very special to me because it was just like my mom's. My mom actually gave me one of hers, but my wife didn't know what it was, so she donated it to Goodwill. I had to get this one to replace it. It is legit the same as my old one, so it might even actually be it. It's the Goodwill circle of life or something — haha.

I also do love filling up growlers at local breweries and New Holland is my favorite brewery, so that was another good find.

You never really know what you'll find there, as Goodwill Industries of Greater Grand Rapids operates 20 stores in a five-county area, plus an online store at ShopGoodwill.com/GrandRapids.

Every purchase helps people with barriers to employment get training and find jobs, so cllick here to find a location near you.
