Lava Bomb Injures Tour Boat Guests in Hawaii
The Hawaii Civil Defense Agency says that a lava bomb broke thru the roof of a tour boat and injured 23 people near the Kilauea volcano has been erupting on Monday. The basketball-sized rock is called a lava bomb because it is a recently cooled rock that is shot from a volcano during an eruption.
Twelve passengers went to the hospital, all were in stable condition except for a woman in her 20s who is in critical condition with a broken femur.
The volcano doesn't just destroy, but it also creates. The volcano has created a new island just offshore. I'd gladly take a trip to Hawaii, but I'd ride in a boat with a thicker roof.
