You search the neighborhood, post on social media to see if anyone has found your pet. You might even go old school and print out missing signs with a picture of your pet and post them around town.

Sometimes you get lucky, and your pet is found, or they simply return home to everyone's relief. But then there are those unfortunate times when they don't come home and can't be found, leading you to give up hope of ever seeing them again.

That happened recently to a woman from Germany who lost her cat in West Michigan.

German Woman Reunited With Missing Cat In Michigan

Olga Heigis, who currently lives in Germany was recently reunited with her cat, Trixie, after five years.

Trixie, a 7-year-old black cat, went missing in the fall of 2020 while Olga and her husband were moving from Ohio to Montague, Michigan.

Despite Olga's efforts, Trixie wasn't found, and the couple had to move back to Germany without her after Olga's husband lost his job.

Six months ago, a family in Montague found Trixie and took her to the Oceana County Animal Friends Shelter.

Thanks to Trixie's microchip, her owner Olga was contacted.

She then flew from Germany to Michigan to bring her beloved cat home.

Olga and Trixie are now back in Germany, and Trixie is doing well.
