The City of Lowell will be under new management soon, after city council voted 4 to 1 to oust City Manager Mark Howe.

WOOD-TV 8 reports the firing happened Tuesday night, and it is not clear what performance issues led to the decision to fire the city manager.

Reports from media outlets look back to a 2013 incident that put Howe at the center of a union dispute. The state ruled Howe violated the Public Employment Relations Act after city workers were unable to speak at a council meeting.
