Not happy with the normal offerings of Egg McMuffins and pancakes? McDonald's is adding a new item to their breakfast menu. Following in the footsteps of Starbucks, who has offered oatmeal for a while, the fast food chain will soon be adding a combination of oatmeal, dried fruit and cream to its McMenu for only $1.99 according to the Chicago Tribune.

Oatmeal is considered by some to be a comfort food, but also packs some health benefits. The oats help lower cholesterol, and the cereal on its own is a low-fat breakfast choice. However, think of the things you add to oatmeal to make it delicious: brown sugar, dried fruit, nuts and milk. Those options make it not so good for you.
