Meet Brandy – Christine’s Pet of the Week!
2-year-old Brandy just came into the Humane Society of West Michigan earlier this week from Florida. She is one of the dogs who was transported as a result of Hurricane Irma. Honestly, I don't think Brandy will last very long because she has an awesome personality!
Brandy is a Rottweiler and the best way to describe her is a "people dog." She's constantly smiling and wagging her tail but she also is the type of dog that will hop on the couch and chill with you. It also doesn't hurt that she's absolutely adorable.
The Humane Society of W. MI continues to bring in animals that were affected by the hurricane and because of this have started an Animal Relocation Fund to help with costs, specifically transportation. Aside from the hurricane, the HSWMI also brings in animals from the southern states who have overcrowded shelters. Money donated will stay towards the Relocation Fund to help the humane society continue doing what they do -- which is ultimately save lives.
Big shout out to the BISSELL Pet Foundation because now through Saturday, 9/23 they will be waiving all adoption fees for animals who came to Michigan shelters from Texas or Florida. IN ADDITION, on Saturday they will also be doing an "Empty the Shelter" event across the state. They will be covering ALL adult (5+ months) animal adoption fees. This includes both adult cats and dogs. The HSWMI will be open from 11a to 4 p.m. on Saturday for the event.
If a puppy is what your heart desires, the Humane Society of West Michigan will be doing on-site puppy adoptions at Rockford Footwear Depot from 11a to 2 p.m. As a bonus, if you bring an item on the humane society's wish list or make a donation at the event, you will receive a 20% off coupon to use at Rockford Footwear Depot.
