Two children who were reported missing in a rural part of Michigan's Upper Peninsula were found safe Sunday, August 9, 2026, after a nearly 90-minute-long search.

The Menominee County Sheriff's Department reported that the children were reported missing from the Daggett area Sunday morning. Daggett is a small village located near Marinette in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The village has a population of just over 200 people.

According to a post from the Menominee County Sheriff's Department, the two children, who wandered off without their shoes on, were located after officers and community members searched for around 90 minutes.

The area included open fields with tons of hiding spots for small kids, as well as a dense wooded area.

The children were located along the tree line and were reunited with their family.
