Michigan Restaurant Named One of the Best ‘Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives’ in America
Originally opened in 2004, The Fly Trap experienced a temporary closure in September 2021 due to the original owners, Kara and Gavin McMillian, facing staffing issues and a lack of work-life balance.
However, their commitment to the diner and its community led them to sell the place to a regular customer and friend, Matt Buskard, who also owns Bobcat Bonnie's restaurants.

Buskard took an "if it's not broke, don't fix it" approach, planning to maintain the essence of The Fly Trap while making some physical improvements to the building.
It's a good thing he didn't change the food because The Fly Trap has been named one of the best diners in America.
