Gas Prices Are Climbing in Michigan, Here’s Where You’ll Pay The Most At The Pump
If you’re planning a road trip in the next couple of weeks, brace yourself before you hit the gas station because fuel prices in Michigan just hit their highest in 2025.
According to AAA, the statewide average gas price for Michigan over the weekend climbed to $3.28 per gallon, setting a new high for the year. While that number has since dropped slightly to $3.23, it’s still 13 cents higher than last week and a full 21 cents more than what drivers were paying just about a month ago. To fill up an average 15-gallon tank right now, you can expect to shell out around $48.

It’s not all doom and gloom, here’s the good news: AAA reports that gas prices may begin to stabilize soon, thanks to a drop in demand and a bump in production. Since spring break season will be wrapping up soon, so will the miles people put on their cars.
In the meantime, West Michigan drivers in particular are feeling the pinch. Grand Rapids currently tops the list with the highest gas prices in the state, with some seeing prices as high as $3.35 per gallon. Not far behind are Benton Harbor and Ann Arbor, both averaging $3.28, followed by Jackson at $3.25.
If you’re heading up north for a spring getaway, at least you might catch a small break at the pump. Traverse City is seeing some of the lowest prices in the state at $3.04 per gallon, with our friends in the UP in Marquette just a bit higher at $3.20.
It’s definitely not unusual for gas prices to fluctuate as we head into peak travel season during any year, but it’s still frustrating, especially for families and college students looking to stretch their budgets over spring break.
So if you’re planning a trip, it might be worth checking fuel prices along your route and filling up where it’s cheaper. No matter where you’re headed, keeping an eye on prices (and maybe downloading a gas app or two) could help save a few dollars that you can spend in another way.
