You can't see it, smell it or taste it, but vapor intrusion can be a serious health risk.

The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services are warning homeowners of the dangers of vapor intrusion.

Vapor intrusion occurs when vapors enter a home through cracks in the foundation or through the sump system. High-risk areas include homes near gas stations, dry cleaners and factories. Vapor intrusion can sometimes occur after chemical spills are not cleaned up.
