Michigan, If You See a Dog Wearing a Red Collar Leave Immediately
Does your dog have a red collar?
Well, you might want to reconsider that collar color.
If you have a pup in your life or are just a lover of doggies, you may need to know this information.
According to Fluffs of Luv,
Dog collars and leashes serve to not only protect a dog and other people. They can help us know whether a dog wants affection, has special needs, or what it's reaction could be when a stranger or a child is near.
Did you know that the different collar colors have different meanings?
- Purple means 'Please do not feed anything to my dog.'
- White means 'My dog has difficulty seeing or hearing or is completely blind or deaf."
- Blue means 'My dog is a service animal. Please do not disturb them.'
- Green means 'It's okay to pet my dog. They are friendly.'
- Yellow means 'My dog is a little unpredictable' or 'I am actually looking for a new home for my pup.'
- Orange means 'My dog doesn't like other dogs.'
Why is a red collar so bad?
Red means 'Leave my dog alone. Beware. Do not get close.'
Dr. Brian Evans, a veterinarian and medical director of a virtual vet care company called Dutch, told Readers Digest:
Red is the signal that this pet is aggressive and needs space from both people and other animals. These are pets that have been known to snap or bite at passersby, attack other dogs, or lunge at people. These pets may be perfectly fine at home with their owner but become overly protective of them when they are out.
What are you supposed to do when you see a red collar, bandana, or leash?
Even though every dog that has a red accessory isn't a threat, you should still proceed with caution to be safe.
