Michigan is Named One of the Most Fun States in America

When it comes to doing something fun you don't have to look very far because you're already living it!

Okay, so maybe you're sitting on the couch right now like I am but just step outside and fun awaits you. A new study from WalletHub ranked Michigan as one of "2021's Most Fun States in America." It's no surprise that the sunshine states, California and Florida, came in first and second, respectively. It's also no surprise that Nevada, home to Sin City, was in third. Michigan, though, may not stick out as "fun" to many Americans, especially those who haven't visited, but now the proof is there!

WalletHub compared all 50 states in 26 metrics including: number of attractions, restaurants per capita, amusement parks, golf courses, movie theaters, access to national parks, beach quality, music festivals, and average cost of alcohol. After finding the results, 1=most fun and 25=average.

Believe it or not, Michigan came in 1st when it came to golf courses and country clubs per capita. In fact, the midwest dominated the top 3 in this category with Iowa and Wisconsin coming in second and third. Michigan also tied for 1st in marinas per capita along with Florida, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, and Maryland.

10^th – Movie Theaters per Capita
13^th – Restaurants per Capita
16^th – Casinos per Capita
20^th – Fitness Centers per Capita
23^rd – Amusement Parks per Capita
30^th – Performing-Arts Theaters per Capita

Overall, Michigan placed at 19. Top 20? Not bad whatsoever. The only thing I question about this study is how the HECK did Ohio beat Michigan in the fun category? Ohio was ranked 13th. I can only assume it's because of Cedar Point.

So, if you find yourself saying "I'm bored" just remember at least you don't live in West Virginia which placed in dead last.
