Michigan is the Worst State for Bullying
Some unfortunate news for Michigan.
WalletHub has ranked Michigan as the #1 state in the country with the biggest bullying problem.
With kids on their way back to school WalletHub looked at the prevalence and prevention of bullying in schools across the country. They also looked to see what states have laws enacted against bullying.
In order to conduct such a comparison, we examined each state based on 17 key metrics, ranging from “bullying-incident rate” to “truancy costs for schools” to “percentage of high school students bullied online.”
Michigan came in at #3 for the percentage of high school students bulled on school property and in 5th for those bullied online.
As far as anti-bullying laws we came in at #17.
Each (17) key metric was given a value and after all the data was collected, Michigan came in first overall.
Due to lack of data Colorado, Iowa, Minnesota, Oregon, and Washington were excluded form the study.

It's important we talk to our kids about bullying, and the different forms of it, so they can go into this next school year feeling safe. This website is a good source to prevent bullying and actions we can take against it.
