Recently I was looking up unique things about our state and found a couple of cool and interesting facts.

For one, Michigan is the only one state in America to have two peninsulas.

We're also the only state that has a floating post office.

I had heard people mention those interesting things before, but I never knew that Michigan is home to the largest one of these in the world.

Michigan Is Home To The Largest Limestone Quarry On Earth

The world's largest limestone quarry was located in Rogers City, Michigan.

The quarry was created in 1910 and began the production of limestone in 1912.

Ownership of this massive quarry has changed hands over the years but currently is owned by Carmeuse Lime and Stone.

How Big Is The Limestone Quarry

As you might imagine the world's largest limestone quarry is huge.

At 4 miles long and 1 1/2 miles wide It covers a massive 8,024 acres.
