Michigan Man Sentenced After Online Death Threats To Whitmer, DTE
A Michigan man will spend the next 10 months in prison for making online threats against Governor Gretchen Whitmer and shareholders of DTE Energy.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, in January 2025, Steven Conway, a 40-year-old resident of Center Line, Michigan, called a DTE Energy call center in Wisconsin.
During the call, he stated his intention to “hunt down” and “target for assassination” the company's shareholders and employees.

A few days later, Conway posted a separate threat against Governor Whitmer on an online dating site, declaring that she was “marked for assassination."
I've heard that posting a picture of oneself holding a fish can be a turn-off for women on dating apps.

Steven Conway Sentenced
Conway pleaded guilty to two counts of communicating threats in interstate commerce.
Following his 10-month prison sentence, he will also be required to complete two years of supervised release.
You might not be surprised to know that this isn’t Conway's first offense; the U.S. Attorney’s Office revealed that he has a prior conviction for threatening a judge and police officers in Macomb County.
Let’s hope that some time behind bars helps him change his ways.
