The 39-year-old man who chose to remain anonymous bought a $10 VIP Cashword instant game.

This game gives players a chance to win prizes ranging from $10 up to $500,000.

The anonymous man shared with the Michigan Lottery how it happened.

I love the Cashword games, so those are the tickets I usually buy, I bought this ticket on my way to work and scratched it off in my car. I thought it was going to be a losing ticket until I got to the last few letters in the call letter box. I didn’t think it was real when I finished scratching and saw I’d won $500,000. It was crazy!
